Jay E. Fogelsanger, 93, of Hanover, passed from this life into eternity on November 28, 2023.  He was the loving husband of Doris M. Fogelsanger who entered eternity on April 15, 2023.  Together, they shared over 66 years of marriage.

Jay was born in Chambersburg, PA on December 21, 1929 and was the son of the late Reuben and Martha (Hartman) Fogelsanger.  He graduated from Shippensburg High School, class of 1947 and attended Shippensburg College for 2 years. Most of Jay's employed life was spent in engineering as a mechanical draftsman of packaging and filling machines.  For 10 years, he worked ground maintenance at The Brethren Home Community until he retired in 1994. He enjoyed crop farming, cows and his tractors from the 1950's.  Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.  Always eager to embrace technology, he also loved visiting with them on his cell phone. Mr. Fogelsanger was very intentional in his faith life, serving as a deacon and caring for those in need, including Meals on Wheels, and he did his alternative service at The Friend's Hospital in Philadelphia.  His faith in our Lord Jesus Christ was steadfast.  He believed John 3:16.

Jay is survived by his children: Bonnie Schoffstall and husband Steve, Dale Fogelsanger and wife Denise; his grandchildren: Ben Warfield, Blaine Warfield and wife Nikki, Andrea Potter and husband Chris, Ashley McFeaters and husband Tyler, and Amber Fogelsanger; step-grandchildren: Heather Green and husband Chad, and Jessica Long and husband Ed; and step-great-grandchildren: Jenna, Camron and Tristan.

A funeral service to celebrate Jay's life will be held at 3pm on Sunday, December 3rd at First Baptist Church; 217 Fulton St. in Hanover with Pastor Gary Buchman officiating.  Interment will follow in York Road Cemetery.  A time to share memories and an opportunity to view will also be on Sunday at the church from 2pm until the start of the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bible Helps; P.O. Box 391; Hanover, PA 17331.

Arrangements are under the care of Wetzel Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. in Hanover.
