Jean E. (Blocher) Bowers, 85, of Hanover, passed on to meet her Lord and Savior, Jesus on Tuesday, January 25, 2022 at the SpiriTrust Lutheran, the Village at Utz Terrace. She was the loving wife of James E. "Jack" Bowers, Sr.; together they shared 66 years of marriage.
Born October 12, 1936 in Gettysburg, she was a daughter of the late Hadley and Bernice (Strine) Blocher.
Jean went to Littlestown High School. She was a classical pianist and participated in musical programs there. After high school, she attended Lebanon Valley College and studied Music Education. She taught music to high school, middle school and elementary school students in the Carroll County Public School District throughout her career. She loved to play the piano. Jean was instrumental in promoting the training of her grandchildren in voice and piano. After retirement, Jean devoted her time to her loving husband and to keeping her grandchildren. She also volunteered with the children's choir at church.
In addition to her husband, Jean is survived by three children, James R. Bowers of State College, Kathy A. Stetter and her husband James A. of Glenville, James E. "Jack" Bowers, Jr. and his wife Kathy of Hanover; five grandchildren, James W. Stetter and his wife Heather of Hanover, Anna Grayce Molison and her husband Tyler of Hanover, Aaron J. Stetter of Glenville, Jessica M. Bowers of Hanover, Jaden E. Bowers of Hanover; one great grandchild, Henry R. Stetter, three siblings, Susanne Strevig of Littlestown, Judith Stitt of Whippany, NJ, James Blocher of Cape May Courthouse, NJ and many loving nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
In addition to her parents, Jean was preceded in death by a brother, William Blocher.
Jean's body was donated to the Hershey Medical Center for research. A Memorial Service for Jean will be held on April 2 nd at Community Evangelical Free Church, 580 Roth's Church Road, Spring Grove, PA 17326. The service will begin at 2:00PM with refreshments to follow at the church.
