Obituary

On January 20, 2024, Jerry Misner, Sr., aged 67, of Hanover, PA, was called to be with the Lord at his home after a brave battle with a lengthy illness. Born in Johnstown, PA, on September 26, 1956, to the late Dorothy and Donald Misner, Jerry was a beacon of strength and love to all who knew him.

Jerry's life was marked by his deep devotion to his family and his unwavering service to the community. He attended Littlestown High School. His heart found its truest joy on April 16, 1981, when he married Vickie Benson, his soulmate and partner in life's journey. Their union was blessed with nearly 43 years of love, laughter, and shared dreams.

He leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories with his beloved wife Vickie; his sons Jamie, Jerry Jr. and wife Jessica, Donald and girlfriend Cortney Albaugh, and Jason and wife Danielle; and his treasured grandchildren Aubrey, Hailey, Peyton, Paige, Mason, Sophia, Sophia, Rylynn, Jaxson, Gannon, and Kensley. Jerry's role as a husband, father, and grandfather was the most significant and rewarding of his life.

Jerry's dedication to helping others was evident through his more than 30 years of service with the Grangeville Fire Department. He held various roles including firefighter, scuba diver, trustee, and assistant fire chief until its dissolution in 2003. His commitment to service didn't end there; in recent years, he brought joy and laughter to a local dance studio, where he was affectionately known as "Mr. Jerry" by all the children. His presence was a source of light and happiness.

A private graveside service will be held for family and close friends to honor Jerry's memory. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Jerry's name to The Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation at www.pulmonaryfibrosis.org or The National Fallen Firefighters Foundation at www.firehero.org, continuing his legacy of helping others.

Jerry Misner, Sr.'s life was a testament to the power of love, family, and community service. His memory will be cherished and kept alive in the hearts of those he touched.
