Obituary

Joel Solomon, age 83, passed away at York Hospital on Wednesday, February 25, 2022.  He was the loving partner of Carol Spangler-Solomon and they shared over 30 years plus together.  He is survived by his children, Charlene Solomon (Jim Donaghy) of Jacksonville, FL, Alexandra Christiana (partner Philo Gold) of Camp Hill, PA and Joelle Solomon (Dale Davis) of Doylestown, PA; son-in-law, Johnny Karatzakislis of Essex, MD; a sister, Sandra Solomon of Phoenix, AZ; grandchildren, Ghia Karatzakislis, Jo-el Karatzakislis, both of Essex, MD, Theo (Kelly) Karatzakislis of Middle River, MD, MacKenzie Christiana Arcuri (Alex) of Camp Hill, PA, Anthony Christiana of Camp Hill, PA; great-grandchildren, Kyra Burris of Texas, Arianna Burris of Baltimore, MD, Annabella Ruth Stoddard of VA, Max Karatzakislis, Julian Karatzakislis and Emma Jane Karatzakislis, all of Middle River, MD, Dolores and Wanda (mothers of Charlene and Alexandra), as well as many other family members and friends.  Joel was predeceased by his beloved daughter, Linda Karatzakislis on February 12, 2022, his first wife, Carol (Cole) Solomon, his parents, Ruth and Gilbert Solomon and his in-laws, Dorothy and Walter Spangler.

Joel was a loyal Rotarian, President of the Hanover Rotary Club and District Governor.  He Emceed the Travelouge, was instrumental in developing Sports Night and was active in the Rotarian project for the building on Moul Avenue presented to the Boro of Hanover.  He was a Paul Harris Fellow multiple times  and an instructor in the schools for the Project Business Program to educate young students about how businesses are organized and how they are operated.

Joel was a car enthusiast, always collecting cars.  He was a passionate advocate of many causes, even attending the U.S. Congress and State Government when needed, plus helping politicians get elected along with Carol by his side.  He volunteered at Rescue Shelters and adopted two rescue dogs.  He had a special love for his animals, especially Fluffie and Buffie.  He devoted his time at Talmudical Academy.  A favorite saying he had was "Don't thank me, thank God".

He was V. P. of Enterprise Paper & Chemical Co., a family business, wearing many hats, helping to develop the areas in Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia and the DC area.  One of his favorite mottos was "It's about getting the job done", which was most important to him whenever he was doing something.

He founded Achievement Resources, Inc. giving instructions to management and sales people to develop their skills.  Plus, he also founded 21 st Century Safety and Health Solutions and was a certified OSHA Representative.

Joel was a life long member of Beth T'Filah Synagogue in Pikesville, MD and belonged to Temple Judea Synagogue in Ft. Myers, Florida.

A service for Joel was held on Friday, February 27, 2022 with his very special friend, Rabbi Yehuda Lefkovitz conducting the service at Beth Jacob Anshe Veshear Cemetery in Rosedale, Maryland.
