John Wesley Dillon, III, 82, of Taneytown, MD and formerly of Manchester, MD and Hanover PA, passed peacefully on Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2023 at Lorien Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Taneytown. He was the loving husband of Constance "Connie" U. (Polanskas) Dillon for 62 years. Born July 20, 1940 in Edgemere, MD, he was the son of the late John Wesley, Jr. and Annabelle N. (Hudson) Dillon.
John enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He also liked boating, crabbing and doing home improvements. He had a passion for carpentry, electrical and handyman repairs. John was employed with Baltimore Gas and Electric for 33 years retiring in 1994. He was a member of B.P.O.Elks #763, Hanover, and a past member of the Hanover Republican Club and Moose. John also was an avid Baltimore Orioles and Ravens fan.
In addition to his wife Connie, John is survived by two daughters; Catherine M. DiPinto and her husband Nicholas of Hanover and Selena D. Jackson and her husband James of Hampstead, MD; three grandchildren, Meaghan Rae DiPinto and her wife Autum Hosler of Harrisburg, Nicholas A. DiPinto and his fiancée Madison Armold of Hanover and Gregory J. Jackson and his wife Michele of Thurmont, MD; his brother Paul W. Dillon and his wife Patricia of Taneytown, MD; his sister-in-law, Pauline P. Morrison and her husband William of Frederick, MD; and cherished sister-in-law, Sharron Dillon of Louisville, KY and a number of nieces and nephews. John was preceded in death by three brothers, Frank D., Ronnie R. and Donald N. Dillon.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00am on Monday, March 6, 2023 at St. Bartholomew R.C.C., 2930 Hanover Pike, Manchester, MD 21102 with Father Collin Poston as celebrant. A time to share memories with the family and an opportunity to view will be from 6:00 to 8:00pm on Sunday, March 5 th at the Wetzel Funeral Home and Crematory, 549 Carlisle St., Hanover, PA 17331. Burial will be in Hampstead Cemetery.
For those desiring, in lieu of flowers, contributions in John's memory may be made to the charity of one's choice.
