John Allen Sharp, 74, of Hanover, Pennsylvania, passed away on Saturday, March 27, 2021. John was the loving companion of Debbie Carr for over a decade.
Born January 16, 1947 in Baltimore, Maryland, John was the son of the late William J. and Evelyn M. (Angell) Sharp.
After serving our country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era, John continued to serve his community as a Baltimore City Police Officer serving in the Mounted Unit and Motorcycle Division, retiring as a Sergeant. After retiring from the Baltimore City Police, John continued to ensure the safety of our roadways working for the Maryland State Police as a Transportation Inspector and the US Department of Transportation Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration. John officially retired in 2013 and turned his focus to enjoying life doing the things he loved. He valued the time spent with his family and friends.
John was fully engaged in retirement; riding his motorcycle, traveling, target shooting and volunteering at the American Legion serving in leadership roles. John served as the Commander at the Hampstead Post 200 and continued serving the Department Executive Committee of the American Legion. John passed away doing what he loved, riding his motorcycle on a beautiful spring day.
John is also survived by 2 children: Deborah Watkins and her husband, Charlie of Ocean View, DE and Ken Sharp and his wife, Martha of Leesburg, VA; his former wife Rose Reber of Leesburg, VA; 4 grandchildren: Rachel Seibert, Kelly Seibert, Samantha Sharp and Patrick Sharp, as well as one brother, Patrick M. Sharp of Oakwood, MD.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his son, John Allen Sharp, Jr., as well as one brother and one sister.
A celebration of life will be held at the American Legion Post 200 at a future date.
