Obituary

John F. Tumminello, 91, of Bel Air, MD, formerly of Hanover, PA passed away peacefully at Gilchrist Center in Towson, MD on Wednesday, August 3, 2022. He was the beloved husband of 66 years to the late Gloria R. (Calvert) Tumminello who passed on November 13, 2017.

Born March 12, 1931, in Baltimore, he was a son of the late Carmel J. and Rose (Alcarese) Tumminello.

Mr. Tumminello worked for C&P Telephone in Maryland for 28 years, then for AT&T in Baltimore for 15 years before retiring in 2001. He also served honorably in the US Air Force in the rank of Airman First Class; in the US Army Reserves; and is a Korean War era Veteran.

He is survived by five children: Gloria Tumminello of Hanover, PA; John Tumminello of Sanford, ME; Paul Tumminello and his wife, Claire of Washington, DC; Lisa Smith and her husband, Steve of Bel Air, MD and Joseph Tumminello and his wife, Tanya of Harriman, TN; 1 brother, Eleodoro "Jerry" Tumminello of Lewes, DE; as well as 14 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

A time to share memories and an opportunity to view will be on Monday August 8 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm and 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Wetzel Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc.; 549 Carlisle St. in Hanover, PA.

A Christian Service to celebrate John's life will be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday August 9 at Wetzel Funeral Home &Crematory. Interment will follow at 1:00 pm in Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Finksburg, MD.
