Josephine "Josie" R. Martin, 92, of Hanover, entered into eternal rest on Monday, November 22, 2021 at Autumn House in York. She was the loving wife of the late A.J. Martin.

Born November 20, 1929 in Bristol, VA, she was a daughter of the late William L. and Bessie (LaForce) Jackson.

Josie was the owner of "Josie's Place" a popular local tavern in the '80s which later she expanded into a restaurant she renamed "The Black Rose Lounge" after the Hanover flower. Josie served on the Hanover Chamber of Commerce as Chairman of the Small Business Council of Hanover for several years. She enjoyed ballroom and polka dancing, playing cards with the girls, and spending time with her family.

Josie is survived by four children: Ross Gosnell and his wife Sandra of Middletown, MD; Andrew Gosnell and his wife Allison of Jefferson, MD; Deborah Deardorff and her husband Scott of Hanover, PA; Karen Brabham and her husband Holland of Hanover, PA; a brother, Stacey Jackson of San Antonio, TX and a sister, Ocie Mae Kroner of Brookfield, OH; 20 grandchildren: Stefanie Brindley, Joshua Gosnell, Brandon Gosnell, Phillip Gosnell, Tony Gosnell, Dillon Gosnell, Nicholas Edwards, Theresa Lighty, Nathan Barbe, Acacia Lighty, Ace Black, Aysia Black, Anor Brabham, Ahmyia Brabham, Michelle Viands, Heather Kelly, Tristan Gosnell, Paul Deardorff, Rebecca Grantham, Beth Wentz and 29 great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, Josie was preceded in death by a son: Eric Gosnell, an infant child, Baby Gosnell, 4 brothers, Curtis Jackson, Herman Jackson, Eugene Jackson and Roy Jackson.

A service to celebrate the life of Josie will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, December 1, 2021 at Missionary Bible Baptist Church, 920 Beck Mill Rd, Hanover, with Pastor Mark Rohnke officiating. A time to share memories with the family will be on Tuesday, November 30 from 6-8 p.m. and again at the church on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will be in Marburg Memorial Gardens, Hanover. Pallbearers will be, Ross Gosnell, Andrew Gosnell, Dillon Gosnell, Nathan Barbe, Joshua Gosnell, Scott Deardorff, Holland Brabham, Anor Brabham.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Missionary Bible Baptist Church, 920 Beck Mill Rd, Hanover, PA 17331.
