Joyce A. "JoJo" (Chronister) Hardy, 71, of New Oxford, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 12, 2024, at York Hospital, surrounded by the love of her family. She was the devoted wife of George Edward Hardy, Jr., with whom she shared a lifetime of cherished memories and unwavering companionship.
Born on September 20, 1953, in Gettysburg, Joyce was the beloved daughter of the late C. Eugene and Doris I. (Heller) Chronister. She grew up with a deep appreciation for family values and carried this love throughout her life.
Joyce, affectionately known as JoJo, had a passion for life's simple joys. She found delight in reading, baking, cooking, and shopping. Her culinary skills brought joy to family gatherings, and she loved preparing meals with care. Traveling was another great joy for Joyce, as she and her husband explored the beauty of the eastern United States on countless vacations together.
Despite facing many health challenges over the years, JoJo demonstrated immense strength, grace, and an unshakable faith. Her positive outlook and enduring spirit left a lasting impression on all who knew her. She was truly a beacon of courage and resilience, a woman who persevered with a smile through life's trials.
In addition to her husband, George, JoJo is survived by her brother, Larry Chronister, and his wife, Diane, of Aspers; her sister, Betty Cease, and her husband, Stephen, of Aspers; and her uncle, Kermit E. Heller, Jr., of Dillsburg. She was a loving aunt to her nieces, Kimberly Lahman, April Graham, and Florence "Flo" Heuer, and nephews, Matthew Chronister, Jason Chronister, and Lance Chronister. JoJo was predeceased by her niece, Michelle Chronister, who always held a special place in her heart.
A service to celebrate the life of Joyce A. "JoJo" (Chronister) Hardy will be held at 11 am on Thursday, October 17, 2024 at the Wetzel Funeral Home and Crematory, 549 Carlisle St., Hanover, PA with Rev. E. Robert Burkhart officiating. A time to share memories with the family and an opportunity to view will be on Thursday from 10 am until the time of service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Sunnyside Cemetery, York Springs. Pallbearers will be; George E. Hardy, Jr., Jason Chronister, Larry Chronister, Hayden Cease, Stephen Cease, Matthew Chronister.
