Obituary

Judith E. (Adkins) Sauter, aged 77, of Hanover, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, April 4, 2024. She leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion as the beloved wife of Edward Sauter, with whom she shared numerous years of marriage filled with companionship and mutual respect.

Born on November 8, 1946, in Seth, WV, Judith was a cherished daughter of the late Clifford and Leona (Moore) Adkins. Her early years in Seth laid the foundation for a life characterized by resilience, service, and family devotion. A proud alumnus of Sherman High School, class of 1964, she went on to serve her country with honor in the Air Force during the Vietnam War, embodying the spirit of dedication and courage.

Furthering her education, Judith attended Harford Community College, where she earned her associate degree in 1990. Despite her achievements and the paths open to her, Judith's heart was firmly rooted in the home. She embraced her role as a wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother with unmatched enthusiasm and love. Judith's presence was a source of warmth and joy, especially cherished in the countless moments spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Judith's journey through life was shared with her loving husband, Edward, and their two devoted children, Edward C. Sauter (Kelly) of Red Lion and Gale L. Reed (James) of Shrewsbury. She was a guiding light to her six grandchildren, Karen, Jacob, Amanda, Julieanna, Justin, and Edward W., and delighted in the laughter and happiness of her great-grandchildren, Holden and Charlie Olives. Judith's legacy is also carried on by her siblings, Gene, Walter Adkins, and Anna J. Kaetzer, along with numerous extended family members and friends who found in her a source of unwavering support and love.

Preceded in death by her parents and six siblings, James, Stephen, David, Jerry, Betty Adkins, and Sherry "Nan" Hager, Judith's spirit continues to inspire all who knew her.
