Julia L. (Fuhrman) Mowrer, 92, of New Oxford, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 11, 2021 at Cross Keys Village Brethren Home Community. She was the loving wife of the late Harry T. Mower, Jr., together they shared 61 years of marriage before his passing in 2008.
Born Sunday, September 30, 1928 in Brodbeck, PA, she was a daughter of the late William J. and Hilda L. (Royer) Fuhrman.
Mrs. Mowrer was raised in the Brodbeck area and then met her husband and started raising her family; after raising four great sons she started working at Sterner's Groceries and Giant Food as a meat wrapper for over 20 years. Julia loved her family and cherished spending time with them; one of her favorite things to do would be meeting her family for breakfast and then spending the day in Caledonia State Park. Julia enjoyed reading, cross stitching, word puzzles, bingo, going to the beach, but most of all she loved spending time with her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
Mrs. Mowrer is survived by four children, twin sons, Dennis H. Mowrer and his wife Linda of Hanover, Daniel W. Mowrer and his wife Gayle of Hanover; sons, Randy T. Mowrer and his companion Teresa of Hanover, Andrew A. Mowrer and his companion Cindy of Hanover; a sister, Pauline Brenneman and her husband John of Dillsburg; seven grandchildren; one step grandchild; 12 great grandchildren; two step great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; two step great great grandchildren and many other loving extended family members and friends.
In addition to her parents and husband, Julia was preceded in death by three brothers, Leroy Fuhrman, Luther Fuhrman, Earl Fuhrman; a sister, Frances Wentz and a granddaughter, Sarah Mowrer.
A service to celebrate the life of Julia L. (Fuhrman) Mowrer will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, August 16, 2021 at the Black Rock Church of the Brethren, 3864 Glenville Rd, Glenville, PA, with Pastor Brandon Grady officiating. A time to share memories with the family and an opportunity to view will be on Sunday from 7-9 p.m. at the Wetzel Funeral Home & Crematory, 549 Carlisle St. Hanover and then again on Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Burial will be in Black Rock Church Cemetery, Glenville. Pallbearers will be; Luke Mowrer, Bryan Mowrer, Michael Mowrer, Douglas Brock, Jeramiah Reichert and Dylan Norris.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to either Black Rock Church of the Brethren at the Address Listed Above or to Cross Keys Village Brethren Home Community Good Samaritan Fund, 2990 Carlisle Pike New Oxford PA 17350.
