Obituary

Junior J. "Jim" Campbell, 93 of Abbottstown passed away peacefully at the Cross Keys Village Brethren Home on Wednesday, November 29, 2023.  He was the beloved husband of the late Leila Kay Secrist Campbell who passed away on October 8, 2012.

Born August 23, 1930 in Dry Run, PA, he was a son of the late Hance and Mary J. (Felmlee) Campbell.

Mr. Campbell was a faithful member of 1st United Methodist Church in Hanover.  He owned and operated C&W Auto service in Kensington, MD from 1968-2001.  In his free time, he enjoyed gardening and watching Penn State football.  Jim is fondly remembered for his love and dedication to his family.  He always kept everyone together, and could be found at the head of the table at every meal.  He was also especially proud of his Scottish heritage.

Jim is survived by four children: Valerie French of Abbottstown, Winnie Hannon of Salem, Oregon, Jill Harl of Abbottstown and Kenneth Campbell and his wife, Tammy of Rockville, MD.; his brother, Richard Campbell of Chambersburg, as well as eight grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Anna Jane Czapp.

A graveside service to celebrate Jim's life will be held at 11am on Wednesday, December 6th at Mt. Olive Cemetery in Abbottstown. For GPS purposes, the cemetery is located directly across the street from 281 Abbottstown Pike; Abbottstown, PA 17301.  Guests are encouraged to arrive at the cemetery by 10:45am.
