Kyle D. Smith, 18 of Hanover passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his family on Wednesday, February 12, 2025.
Born July 10, 2006 in Hanover, he was the son of David W. Smith and Annette T. (Stafford) Arenz.
Everyone who ever met Kyle loved him instantly and he loved them. He is fondly remembered as a cheerful, resilient medical marvel who defied all the odds. He brought everyone together, and touched many lives, inspiring people to find the best in themselves. His many friends included all the medical professionals who provided his care and developed a bond with this extraordinary young man.
In addition to his parents, Kyle is survived his stepfather, David Schanberger; two sisters: Felicia N. Klinedinst and her husband Patrick of Hanover and Angel L. Arenz and her husband Daniel Young of Red Lion; maternal grandmother, Thelma M. Stafford of Hanover; uncle, Harold T. Stafford of Hanover; aunt, Marcia L. Myers of Hanover, as well as many loving nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, James J. Stafford.
A funeral service to celebrate Kyle's life will be held on Sunday, February 16th at 3pm at Wetzel Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc.; 549 Carlisle St. in Hanover with Pastor Paul Cole officiating. A time to share memories and an opportunity to view will also be on Sunday at the funeral home from 1pm until the start of the service.
