Mary Catherine "Cass" Messinger, 88, of Hanover, entered into God's eternal care on Wednesday, October 23, 2019 at Columbia Cottage, Hanover. She was the wife, for 47 years, of Ralph J. Messinger, who passed away November 15, 1996.
Born February 19, 1931 in Hanover, she was the daughter of the late Emory E. and Roxie (Zumbrum) Laughman.
Cass was a graduate of Eichelberger High School class of 1948. She attended Hanover First Church of God. Mrs. Messinger was employed with the South Western School District for 34 years retiring as Cafeteria Manager in 1992. She enjoyed traveling with her husband Ralph all across America and throughout Europe. Cass also enjoyed shopping and antiquing.
She is survived by her children, Deb Sterner, Hanover and Ralph K. Messinger and his wife Robin, Manhattan, MT; her sister, Doris Barnhart and her husband Clair, Hanover; her grandchildren, Matthew Moore, Hanover, Mark Moore and his wife Tamara, Shippensburg, Mari Messinger, Bozeman, MT, Emma Dyksterhouse and her husband Nick, Belgrade, MT and Jake Messinger, Bozeman, MT; and her great grandchildren, Miles, Mason, Lucy and Devon Moore. She was preceded in death by her sister, Effie Fox.
A service to celebrate the life of Cass Messinger will be held at 11:00am, Monday, October 28, 2019 at Hanover First Church of God, 600 Fairview Dr., Hanover, PA 17331, with Pastor Jerry Shoap officiating. The family will receive friends from 10am until the time of the service at church. Following the service, a reception will be held at the church for family and friends. Final burial will be at 2:00pm in Marburg Memorial Gardens, Hanover.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Cass Messinger to Hanover First Church of God at the above address or to VNA Hospice, 440 N. Madison St., Hanover, PA 17331.
