Obituary

Mary J. (Zinn) Laughman, 92, of Dallastown, formerly of Hanover, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 31, 2023, at Inners Creek Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Dallastown. She was the beloved wife of the late Burnell A. Strausbaugh, who passed away in 1984, and the late Elwood E. "Whitey" Laughman, who passed away in 2010.

Mary was born on Friday, September 25, 1931, in Germany Township, a daughter of the late Calvin P. and Emma E. (Yingling) Zinn.

A loving wife, mother, and grandmother, Mary cherished her family and relished the time spent with them. She was a dedicated employee at Sonoco on Pine St. in Hanover for many years before joining the Hanover Evening Sun Newspaper, where she retired.

Mary is survived by her son, James A. Zinn, of Hanover. She also leaves behind three adored grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, along with many cherished extended family members and friends.

In addition to her parents and husbands, Mrs. Laughman was preceded in death by a son, Michael A. Strausbaugh; six siblings, Calvin Zinn, Romaine Snyder, Madaline Zinn, Ruth Stimmel, Kathryn Mummert, and Gladys Crouse and a great grandchild, Vance Zinn.

A service to celebrate the life of Mary J. (Zinn) Laughman will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, November 3, 2023, at the Wetzel Funeral Home and Crematory, 549 Carlisle St., Hanover, PA, with the Rev. Gerry Stoltzfoos officiating. A time to share memories with the family and an opportunity to view will be on Thursday from 6-8 p.m. and then again on Friday from 9 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Burial will take place in York Road Cemetery, Hanover.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105
