Mary D.
Lawrence
Jun 24, 1934 — Oct 30, 2024
Mary D. (Thomas) Lawrence, 90, of York, formerly of Hanover, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, surrounded by love and care at Autumn House West in York. She was the beloved wife of the late Charles E. Lawrence, with whom she shared many beautiful years of marriage until his passing in 2014.
Born on Sunday, June 24, 1934, in Hanover, Pennsylvania, Mary was the cherished daughter of the late Clarence H. and Dorothy C. (Rynard) Thomas.
Mary was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She found true happiness in her family, cherishing each moment spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. A longtime and faithful member of Harvest Time Temple Church in Hanover, Mary's faith was her guiding light, and she lived her life as a testament to her beliefs.
In addition to her dedication to her church, Mary found joy in the company of friends at Club 2000 fitness center and in her travels with the "Recycled Teenagers," creating lasting memories of adventure and companionship. She was an avid beach lover, enjoyed shopping trips, delighted in solving word search puzzles, and took solace in reading her Bible. Regular visits to Christ Church of Littlestown further enriched her spiritual journey and deepened her faith.
Mary leaves behind a legacy of love in her family, including her daughters, Beverly Davis of East Berlin, Pamela Biller and husband Larry of York, and Peggy Schildt and husband Jeff of McSherrystown; her son, Barry Arentz and wife Sandy of New Oxford; her 14 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild, each of whom she adored and held close in her heart.
A service celebrating Mary's life will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, November 6, 2024, at Christ Church of Littlestown, 131 Christ Church Rd, Littlestown, PA, with Rev. Shane Fritz and Rev. Fred Mummert officiating. Family, friends, and all who knew Mary are welcome to share memories and offer their respects from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Interment will follow at Rest Haven Cemetery in Hanover. Serving as pallbearers will be Kyle Zumbrum, Kahle Zumbrum, Nathan Baer, Jerry Dattoli, Jeremy Arentz, Joe Davis, and Aaron Arentz.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made in Mary's honor to Harvest Time Temple, 700 Black Rock Rd, Hanover, PA 17331 or Christ Church of Littlestown, 131 Christ Church Rd, Littlestown, PA 17340, ensuring her faith and compassion live on in the community she loved.
