Melanie Jane Gallagher, 62, of Hanover, passed away Thursday, November 24, 2022 at Reading Hospital, West Reading, PA.  She was the loving wife of Benjamin John Gallagher, Hanover; together they shared 41 years of marriage.

Born December 2, 1959 in Hanover, she was the daughter of the late Earl Robert Martz and Arlene S. (Miller) Martz Nace.

Melanie, along with her husband, owned and operated Gallagher's Auto Parts, Hanover.  She attended HACC and aspired to be a paralegal.  Melanie enjoyed spending time with her husband, attending country music concerts, loved her 1974 Chevy Nova SS, raising Poodles and loved a good steak dinner, especially at the Inn 94. She was a big fan of Elvis, Michael Landon and the TV shows, Law and Order, Little House on the Prairie and Highway to Heaven.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Keeney and husband Ryan, Hanover; grandchildren, Emily, Zachary, Derek and Connor Keeney, all of Hanover; sisters and brothers, Deborah Strausbaugh and husband Amos, Abbottstown, Jeffrey Martz and wife Sara, Hanover, Joseph Martz, Gettysburg, Connie Myers and husband James, New Oxford, Gregory Martz and wife Bonnie, New Oxford and Diane Martz and companion Jim Caler, Hanover and many loving nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her son, Justin Gallagher and grandson, Bradley Keeney.

A funeral service will be held Thursday, December 1, 2022 at 11 AM at the Wetzel Funeral Home and Crematory, 549 Carlisle St., Hanover with Rev. Cindy Orewiler officiating.  A time to share memories and an opportunity to view will be on Thursday from 10 AM until the start of the service at the funeral home.  Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery, Hanover.  Serving as pallbearers will be Mike Strausbaugh, Danny Strausbaugh, Ryan Keeney, Scott Myers, Charles Runshaw and Andy Martz.
