Meriam C. (Hood) Brehm, of Hanover, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 26, 2026, at Concordia at SpiriTrust Utz Terrace, just one week after celebrating her 102nd birthday. She was the loving wife of the late Ralph Brehm, with whom she shared 41 years of marriage before his passing in 1983.
Born on October 19, 1924, in Westminster, Maryland, Meriam was a daughter of the late George McClellan Hood and Lydia Margaret (Crawmer) Hood.
A proud graduate of Westminster High School’s Class of 1942, Meriam was a longtime member of St. David’s United Church of Christ in Hanover. She devoted much of her life to making a home for her family. As a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother, she cherished her family and the generations that followed her. Her life spanned more than a century, leaving her family with a lasting legacy of love.
Meriam found joy in life’s simple pleasures, especially sitting at her kitchen table and watching the activity outside. She loved seeing the birds feeding on the deck, the squirrels trying to get into the bird feeders, and, especially, the cats gathering at her back door to beg for food.
Meriam is survived by her children, Carol B. Clousher and her husband, Allen; Donna L. Auchey and her husband, Jay; Timothy A. Brehm and his wife, Robin; Sonia J. Sabo and her husband, Dan; and Randy W. Brehm and his wife, Wendy; and her daughter-in-law, Betty Brehm. She also leaves behind many beloved grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and extended family members.
In addition to her parents and husband, Meriam was preceded in death by her son, Richard W. Brehm; her daughter, Judy Ann Babb, and Judy’s husband, James; five sisters; and two brothers.
Following cremation, a memorial service celebrating Meriam’s life will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, December 5, 2026, at St. David’s United Church of Christ, 142 Hobart Road, Hanover, with the Rev. Scott A. Sager officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Meriam’s memory to St. David’s United Church of Christ, 142 Hobart Road, Hanover, PA 17331.
