Merle E. Bievenour, Sr., 85, of Abbottstown, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 17, 2021 at Colonial Manor, York.  He was the loving husband of Patsy A. (Lemmon) Bievenour who died November 17, 2014.

He was born November 23, 1935 in Abbottstown, PA the son of the late Lawrence Augustus and Nannie Mariah (Messinger) Bievenour.

Mr. Bievenour graduated from East Berlin High School and was employed with Nell's Market, East Berlin as grocery manager.  He was a member of Pleasant Hill Church of the Brethren, Spring Grove where he was an elder for 21 years and was very active with Bible Helps, Hanover.

He is survived by his son Merle E. Bievenour, Jr. and wife Gail, Abbottstown; sisters, Dorothy Hale, Spring Grove, Verna Baker, Abbottstown and Ruthetta Pifer, Spring Grove; grandchildren, Denise Zook and husband Glendon, Lebanon, PA, Lanae Byers and husband Brinton, Mercersburg, PA, Eric Bievenour and wife Tiffany, Abbottstown, Daren Bievenour, Abbottstown and Janita Yohe and husband Matthew, East Berlin and 11 great grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held Thursday, October 21, 2021 at 11 AM at Pleasant Hill Church of the Brethren, 9002 Orchard Rd., Spring Grove with Brother Bradley Nell, Brother Brian Hoff and Elder Ray Mummert officiating. A time to share memories and an opportunity to view will be on Wednesday, October 20, 2021 from 6 to 9 PM and on Thursday from 10 AM until the start of the service both at the church.  Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Church of The Brethren Cemetery, Spring Grove. Serving as pallbearers will be Glendon Zook, Brinton Byers, Eric Bievenour, Daren Bievenour, Matthew Yohe, Rilan Byers, Brayden Zook and Cade Byers.
