Michael R.
Gouker
Nov 26, 1945 — May 22, 2025
Michael R. Gouker, 79, of Hanover, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, May 22, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was the devoted husband of Linda M. (Becker) Gouker, with whom he shared 56 years of marriage and cherished memories.
Born on Monday, November 26, 1945, in Hanover, Michael was the son of the late Leon C. and Pauline (Yohe) Gouker. A lifelong resident of Hanover, he graduated from Hanover High School with the Class of 1965. Shortly after graduation, Michael proudly enlisted in the United States Army, serving his country honorably during the Vietnam War.
Following his military service, Michael worked locally as a vending machine technician, serving numerous businesses in the Hanover area. He had a deep appreciation for the outdoors and especially enjoyed time spent at his cabin in Madisonburg, Centre County. He found joy in hunting, fishing, and golfing, but his greatest joy came from the time he spent with his family. A loving husband and father, and a proud and devoted grandfather, Michael was a man who always put his family first and would do anything for them.
In addition to his wife, Michael is survived by his two daughters, Julie A. Nelson and her husband Rob, of Maineville, OH, and Megan G. Eberhardt and her husband Shaun, of York; two grandchildren, Matthew and Alex Nelson, both of Maineville; and a sister, Bonnie Smith and her husband Al, of Spring Grove. He is also remembered fondly by many extended family members and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by three sisters, Gloria Vigoletti , Patsy Golden, and Barb Carbaugh, and by a brother, Leon "Sonny" Gouker.
In keeping with Michael's wishes, there will be no public viewing or services. A private burial with full military honors will be held at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Hanover, provided by the Hanover Allied Veterans Honor Guard.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Michael's name may be made to WellSpan VNA Home Care, 540 S. George St., York, PA 17401, or to Hospice & Community Care, 235 St. Charles Way, Suite 250, York, PA 17402.
