Michael Paul Hnatkowicz (69) of Hanover, died Thursday October 13, 2022 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was the loving husband of Mary (Jacoby), whom he was married to for 39 years.
Born Feburary 13, 1953 in Cortland, New York, Mike was the second son of William Nickolas Hnatkowicz and Kathryn Jean Dole. He was proceeded in death by a step-father, John F. Criswell Jr.
Mike drove a concrete truck for Hanover Concrete for many years, saying that was one of his favorite jobs. He had many jobs through the years, his first job being a dishwasher at the Lucky Spot Restaurant in Center Square Hanover but when he got into the sign industry he knew he found his niche. He hand lettered trucks and signs for many years. He was very proud of being a sign graphic designer for the later part of his career. Mike worked with places such as W.J.
Stricklers, Len Dick, Pearson, Mundorffs, American and Continental Signs. In addition to signs, Mike was the owner and operator of Hanover Clock Repair, running it out of his basement for the majority of years. He made many "clock calls" and always talked fondly of the local people he met along the way. Many people knew him as the man on the scooter at yard sales.
He is survived by a brother, Robert Hnatkowicz of Groton, New York, 3 sons: Randy Hnatkowicz and wife Laura, Chris Hnatkowicz and wife Shannan, Paul Hnatkowicz and wife Lindsey, and 7 grandchildren, whom he adored.
Services will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice and Community Care P.O. Box 4125 Lancaster PA 17604.
