Nellie G. (Jennings) Stevens, 83, of Virginia Beach, formerly of Hanover, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 14, 2021 at the Sentara Hospice House in Virginia Beach, VA. She was the loving wife of the late Robert A. Stevens; together they shared 34 years of marriage before his passing in 1996. Born August 1, 1937 in Mabscott, WV, she was the daughter of the late Malcolm H. and Carrie L. (Osborne) Jennings.
Nellie was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother; she loved her family and cherished the time spent with them. Mrs. Stevens loved the Baltimore Orioles; she was their number one fan watching all the games and knowing every stat, she enjoyed watching the hosts on QVC, shopping on QVC (especially shopping for her grandchildren and great grandchildren) and she also enjoyed watching Quacker Factory.
Nellie is survived by three children, Fredrick A. Stevens and his wife Fay of Gettysburg, Cathy L. Cruz of Virginia Beach, VA, Donna G. Bollinger and her husband Daniel of Virginia Beach, VA; son-in-law, Vincent Cruz of Virginia Beach, VA; six grandchildren, Stephanie Bollinger Clark and her husband Ben of Virginia Beach, VA, Brian Bollinger and his wife Amanda of Edmond, OK, Joshua Cruz and his wife Sarah of Norfolk, VA, Lindsay Stevens of Gettysburg PA, Kayla Cruz of Virginia Beach, VA, Britney Cruz of Virginia Beach, VA; five great grandchildren, Zachary Bollinger, Ellie Mumford, Landon Bollinger, Serenity Elmore and Ariana Elmore. Nellie is also survived by many loving extended family members and friends.
In addition to her parents and husband, Nellie was preceded in death by a grandson, David A. Stevens.
A service to celebrate the life of Nellie will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 23, 2021 at the Wetzel Funeral Home and Crematory, 549 Carlisle St., Hanover, PA with Rev. Kirk A. Griffin officiating. A time to share memories with the family and an opportunity to view will be on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Hanover PA. Pallbearers will be; Craig Stevens, Rick Stevens, Shane Stevens, Joshua Cruz, Vincent Cruz and Michael Sewell. Following the burial all are welcome to a time of sharing memories and refreshment at St. Matthew Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall, 30 W. Chestnut St., Hanover PA.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Sentara Hospice House, 3760 Sentara Way, Virginia Beach, VA 23452.
