Nora Ruth Hughes, 89, of Gettysburg and formerly of Westminster, MD, entered into God's eternal care on Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2019 at Transitions Healthcare, Gettysburg.  She was the wife of David Hughes who passed away March 30, 2008.

Born August 7, 1930 in Ottawa, IL, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Alice (McKinley) Davis.

Nora was employed as a CNA (certified nursing assistant) at Long View Nursing Home, Manchester, MD for 25 years retiring in 1994. She was a loving mother, grand, great, and great-great grandmother. She enjoyed quilting, going to church, singing and praising the Lord. Nora also loved her pet dog "Bandit".

Mrs. Hughes is survived by four children; Bradley Hughes, Dewey Hughes, Wilma Weigle and Brenda Hyser; 21 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren, 14 great-great grandchildren and 2 great granddogs. She was preceded in death by her sons, David Hughes and Billy Ray Hughes.

A service to celebrate the life of Nora Hughes will be held at 11:00am, Friday, December 6, 2019 at New Beginnings House of God, 4740 Sportsman's Club Rd., Spring Grove, PA 17362 with Pastor Dave Scafide officiating.  The family will receive friends from 10am until the time of the service at the church.  Burial will be private in the church cemetery.
