Obituary

Norman Joseph Osten, 90, Westminster, MD, passed away peacefully on Thursday. He was the loving husband of the late Lillian M. (Ludwig) Osten; together they shared 52 years of marriage before her passing in 2011.

Born July 18, 1932 in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of the late Joseph and Helen (Rhodes) Osten.

Mr. Osten is survived by his four children, Lillian Swartzbaugh and her husband Paul, of Westminster, MD, Joseph Prajzner, Sr. and his wife Sharon, of Westminster, MD, Diane Pepsin and her husband John, Jr., of Hanover, PA, Maria Champ and Paul Ritter, of Hanover, PA; 6 grandchildren, Lillian Clendaniel, James Swartzbaugh,, Andrea Henderson, Joseph Prajzner Jr., Justin Prajzner and Christen Swartzbaugh ; 13 great grandchildren and many loving extended family members and friends.

In addition to his parents and wife, Norman was preceded in death by two sisters, Gladys Talley and Elaine Desiderio.

Norman served in the Navy on the USS Rolette during the Korean War. He enjoyed swimming, sailing, bowling and watching sporting events. He enjoyed listening to classical and big band music. He had a great sense of humor and loved to tell a joke or two to everyone he met.

The family will celebrate Norman's life with a memorial service on Sunday October 2, 2022 at Meadow Branch Church Of the Brethren, Westminster MD. Visitation will be at 2 pm with the service at 3pm.
