Obituary

Patricia (Kellenberger) Hagarman, 89, of Hanover, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 6, 2024, at UPMC Pinnacle Hanover. She was the loving wife of the late Ronald Joseph Hagarman; together, they shared 69 years of marriage before his passing in 2023.

Born on October 17, 1934, in Hanover, she was the daughter of the late Henritta (Sell) Williams and James Kellenberger. Patricia was raised by her grandparents, Henry and Blanche Sell. She attended Eichelberger High School and graduated from St. Joseph's Academy. She furthered her education at the University of Pennsylvania and the Graduate School of Public Health. After raising her children, she returned to college and graduated summa cum laude from York College in 1982. Patricia obtained her nursing home license and served as a social worker and administrator at Gettysburg Lutheran Home for 12 years. She later became the administrator of the United Methodist Home (now Normandie Ridge) for one year before retiring.

Patricia was deeply involved in her community, serving as the judge of elections in McSherrystown for 20 years and on the election board in Hanover for 10 years. In 2013, she received the Hall of Honor for Social Work during the 250th anniversary of McSherrystown. After retirement, she dedicated her time to volunteering at Hanover Hospital, Adams County Office of Aging, Meals on Wheels, PAL, and Road Scholar. Recently, she enjoyed quilting with her fellow quilters at St. Mark Lutheran Church in Hanover, was an avid card player, and had a passion for books, puzzles, and her family.

She is survived by her five children: Michelle Hagarman of Jacksonville, FL; David Hagarman and his wife Kim of East Berlin; Peter Hagarman of McSherrystown; Paul Hagarman and his wife Lori of Gettysburg; and Timothy Hagarman and his wife Tina of Hanover. Patricia also leaves behind six grandsons: Justin, Matthew, Dylan, Ryan, Wesley, and Vance Hagarman; three great-grandsons and seven great-granddaughters. Additionally, she is survived by her half-brother, James Kellenberger, as well as many loving extended family members and friends.

In accordance with Patricia's wishes, there will be no public viewing. Following cremation, a prayer service will be held at 8 p.m. on Friday, July 12, 2024, at the Wetzel Funeral Home and Crematory, 549 Carlisle St., Hanover, PA, with Rev. Kirk Griffin officiating. A time to share memories with the family will be on Friday from 6 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Her cremated remains will be privately scattered with her husband's.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Mark Lutheran Church, 129 Charles St., Hanover, PA 17331, or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1999, Memphis, TN 38101.
