Obituary

Phyllis J. (Snyder) Bechtel, 90 of New Oxford, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 18, 2026 at the Crosskeys Village Brethren Home Community. She was the loving wife of the late Leroy N. Bechtel; together they shared 68 years of marriage before his passing in 2024.

Born October 25, 1935 in Brodbecks, she was a daughter of the late Lloyd P. and Arlene C. (Stauffer) Snyder.

Phyllis graduated from Susquehannock High School and attended Thompson Business Institute. She was employed by the York Bank and Trust Company, retiring in 1995 as Assistant Vice President and Corporate Trust Officer. She was an active member of Wolf's Covenant Church, and enjoyed serving by playing piano, singing in the choir, organizing funeral luncheons, and by using her financial experience. She enjoyed children, flowers, knitting and crocheting gifts.

Phyllis is survived by her sons, Wayne Bechtel of Red Lion, Jonathan Bechtel and his wife Lynne of Lititz; four grandchildren, Matthew Bechtel and his wife Kelli, Jennifer Walker and her husband Eric, David Bechtel and his wife Emily, Andrew Bechtel and his wife Adelee; five great grandchildren and two brothers, Glenn M. Snyder and David A. Snyder.

In addition to her parents and husband, Phyllis was preceded in death by her son, Donald Bechtel. A service to celebrate the life of Phyllis will be held at 11 am on Saturday, April 25, 2026 at Wolf's

Covenant Church, 4501 Wolf's Church Road York, PA 17408 with Rev. Dr. Eric Palmquist officiating. A time to share memories with the family and an opportunity to view will be on Saturday from 10 am until the time of service at the church. Burial will be in Marburg Memorial Gardens, Hanover.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Wolf's Covenant Church, 4501 Wolf's Church Road York, PA 17408.
