Obituary

  1. Nadine (Leister) Boyer, 95 of Mechanicsburg passed away on December 25, 2019 at Messiah Lifeways. She was the beloved wife of 61 years to the late Carroll F. Boyer who passed away on September 27, 2007.

Born September 26, 1924 in Silver Run, MD., she was the daughter of the late Arthur V. and Edna F. (Morelock) Leister.

Nadine was a 1942 graduate of Eichelberger High School in Hanover and a 1943 graduate of Thompson Business College in York.  She was a homemaker and served as an executive secretary from 1943-1952.  As a dedicated member of Trinity United Church of Christ in Hanover, she was active in child ministry. After moving to Mechanicsburg, she became a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ. Nadine was an avid gardener and enjoyed traveling and bowling.  Most of all, she cherished spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Nadine is survived by 3 children: Allen F. Boyer and his wife, Kathy of Cary, NC., Mark C. Boyer and his wife, Paula of Mechanicsburg and Ann L. Boyer of Mechanicsburg; 4 grandchildren: Jim and his wife Katie, Allyssa, Steven and Matt, as well as many other loving family members and friends.

In addition to her husband and parents, Nadine was preceded in death by her brother, Rev. Alton M. Leister and his wife, Doris.

A funeral service to celebrate Nadine's life will be held on Saturday, January 4 th at 9:30am at Wetzel Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc.; 549 Carlisle St. in Hanover with Rev. John Ward-Diorio of St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Mechanicsburg officiating.  Interment will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Hanover.  A time of visitation will also be on Saturday, January 4 th from 8:30am until the time of the service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Nadine's name may be made to Messiah Lifeways Endowment Fund for Benevolent Care; 100 Mt. Allen Drive; Mechanicsburg, PA 17055 or to a charity of your choice.
