Obituary

Raymond M. Uhler, Jr., 79 of Hanover entered his Heavenly home on Sunday, March 31st, 2024 at Hanover Hall Nursing Home due to Parkinson's Denemtia with his family by his side.  He was the husband of Beverly Fowler Uhler with whom he shared 12 years of marriage.  His first wife, Kay L. Collins Uhler preceded him death after 46 years of marriage.

Raymond was born May 8, 1944 in Fayette County, PA, the son of the late Raymond, Sr. and Hazel K. (Ellsworth) Uhler of Fairchance, PA.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Uhler is survived by his daughters: Darlene Flemmens and husband Jeff of East Berlin and Erica Uhler at home.; Grandchildren: Nikki Flemmens Warfield and husband Blaine of Bridgeville, Brock and Danielle Jesse Flemmens of Spring Grove; Great-grandchildren: Reagan and Rory Flemmens and Braxton Warfield; his sister, Sondra Tolbert and husband Dale of Uniontown, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Raymond was a 1962 graduate of Fairchance-Georges High School in York Run, PA.  Following his service in the U.S. Army from 1970 – 1974 where he earned the rank of Sergeant, Raymond loved working on the farm for Brownfield's in Fairchance, PA.  He later worked for General Motors in Baltimore, MD for 32 years, and at Lincoln Intermediate for 15 years as a school bus driver and an assistant for handicap children.  He especially cherished taking his nephew and grandchildren crabbing and fishing in Chincoteague, VA while they were growing up.  Outside of family, his greatest love was classic cars which he enjoyed working on, especially hot rods and muscle cars.

Mr. Uhler's family extends heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Gettysburg Hospital, as well the staff at Hanover Hall Nursing & Rehab for the excellent care they provided.

Following cremation, a memorial service to celebrate Raymond's life will be held at 12noon on Saturday, April 6th at Wetzel Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc; 549 Carlisle St. in Hanover with Pastor Luke Ball officiating.  Interment will immediately follow in Marburg Memorial Gardens in Hanover.  This will conclude the memorial events.  There will be no luncheon or reception following.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 11am until the start of the service.
