Obituary

Rhett Everett Meyers, 66, of Hanover, PA, peacefully passed away on Thursday, October 31, 2024, at UPMC Harrisburg, after a brief illness. Rhett was a smart, witty, funny, kind, caring, and loving man; someone you could depend on, whether it was lending a helping hand, or a listening ear, who will be terribly missed by many.

Rhett was born on July 6, 1958, in North Hornell, NY; he was raised in Arkport, NY, by his father Robert and mother Esther, along with his three brothers (Nate, George, & Doug), and two sisters (Wendy & Cassandra). Growing up, Rhett could either be found riding his dirt bike on or around the race track with his brothers and friends, or working on it in Bob's 300 shop - his true love and passion, he loved anything and everything motocross, dirt bikes, and racing. After graduating Arkport Central School in 1976, he began his career in engineering with SKF, where he would dedicate the next 40 years, and retire from. Upon retiring in August 2020, you could find him tinkering in his garage, either on his dirt bike(s) or car, watching a motocross race on TV, traveling, and spending time with his family & friends, especially with his grandchildren. He truly cherished meeting his idol & inspiration Roger DeCoster in March 2014, and the trip to Unadilla, NY, for the Zoar Moto-Park in 2023. He was so proud & loved seeing his restored racing bike, #505, riding around the track. It was a story he would share whenever he could; he was always a racer at heart.

Rhett is survived by his best friend, partner, wife, and love of his life Wendy Meredith, his daughter Cathy Meyers, NY, mother, Esther Luskus, NY, his brothers, George Meyers, NY, Doug Meyers, NY, his sisters, Wendy (Steve) Kimball, SC, and Cassandra (Jeff) Cooper, NY. He also leaves behind a step-son, Matthew Meredith, PA, his uncles, cousins, several nieces & nephews, in-laws, as well as his granddaughter, Kali, and grandsons Mason, Ayden, Grayson, & Camdyn and their mother, Holly Fields. He was predeceased by his father, Robert E. Meyers, brother, Nathan Meyers, Aunt Rosalie Jamison, sister-in-law Ann, mother-in-law Virginia, and grandson Jaiven.

No services are planned, nor will be held at this time, however, a celebration of life will be held at a later date.
