Rhonda G. Bankert, 65 of Hanover went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and those who have gone before her on Thursday, January 18, 2024. She was the beloved wife of Thomas E. Bankert.
Born March 4, 1958 in Baltimore, she was a daughter of Robert C. Owens, Jr. and the late Marlene G. (Gardner) Owens.
Rhonda is fondly remembered as a strong and faithful Christian who always put the needs of others before her own. Even in recent years as her mobility was limited, she continued her daily outreach to others by phone and text, and displayed a remarkable stewardship for the Glory of God to encourage and uplift others. She was also a long-time, faithful member of Calvary Bible Church in Hanover, as well as a Sunday School teacher. She also had a great love of music.
In addition to her husband and father, Rhonda is also survived by her brother, Douglas L. Baker and wife Diane of Hanover; her sister, Sharon K. Owens and partner Tom of Manheim, three other sisters, Bettina, Susannah and Juliet, her step-mother, Patricia Owens, as well as loving nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her step-father, Joseph Baker.
A funeral service to celebrate Rhonda's life will be held at 11am on Monday, January 22nd at Calvary Bible Church; 603 Wilson Ave.; Hanover, PA 17331. with Pastor Dom Aquilino officiating. Interment will follow in St. Paul's Dubs Church Cemetery in Hanover. A time to share memories and an opportunity to view will be on Sunday, January 21st from 6-8pm at Wetzel Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc.; 549 Carlisle St. in Hanover, and again on Monday morning at Calvary Bible Church from 10am until the start of the service.
