Richard "Dick" B. Laughman, 88, of McSherrystown, PA, entered God's eternal care on Monday, December 16, 2024, at home surrounded by his loving family.
Born July 14, 1936, in Adams County, Richard was a son of Alfred L. and Margaret M. (Laughman) Laughman. He was the husband to Virginia (Renoll) Laughman with whom he shared 61 years of marriage.
Dick retired from Bethlehem Mines after 28 years of service and was also a well-known self-employed tree trimmer for many years.
Dick was a member of St. Paul's Dubs Union Church in Hanover.
Dick was a member of the W.G.H.S.E.A.
In addition to his loving wife, Virginia, Dick is survived by his three sons, Burnell Laughman and wife Deb of New Oxford, Doug Laughman and wife Jane of Hanover, and Tom Laughman of New Oxford, as well as three granddaughters and 1 great granddaughter. Dick also leaves behind three siblings, Francis Laughman of East Berlin, Evelyn Erb of Spring Grove, and Fannie Auchey of Littlestown. Dick was preceded in death by three siblings, Alfred Laughman, Margaret Sponseller, and Harold Laughman.
A funeral service to celebrate Dick's life will be held at 10 AM, Friday, December 20, 2024, at the Wetzel Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 549 Carlisle Street, Hanover, PA 17331, with Pastor Scott Zimmerer officiating. Burial will follow at St. Paul's Dubs Union Church Cemetery. Viewings and times to share memories with the family will be 6-8 PM, Thursday, December 19, 2024, and 9-10 AM, Friday, December 20, 2024, also at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made in Dick's honor to the Williams Grove Historical Steam Engine Association, P.O. Box 509, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055, or online at https://www.wghsea.org/donate.
