Richard Edward "Dick" Downing, 88, of New Oxford, PA passed peacefully on Friday, March 27, 2020 at the Brethren Home Community, New Oxford.  He was the loving husband, for 54 years, of Margaret Ann (Cripps) Downing.

Born March 17, 1932 in Hackensack, NJ, he was the son of the late Charles Edward and Edith (Steiger) Downing.

Mr. Downing served his country proudly in the U.S. Army.  After graduating from Clarkson College, Potsdam, NY, Dick worked for a number of years in construction, in the New York and New Jersey areas, as an engineer.  He enjoyed skiing in the winter and was a member of the New Jersey Ski Club, Mt. Laurel, N.J.  Dick also enjoyed water skiing in the summer.

A memorial service to celebrate the life of Dick Downing will be held at a time to be determined due to the Corona pandemic.  Final disposition will be in George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus, NJ, at the convenience of the family.
