Richard L. Mummert Funeral Service

Richard L. Mummert, 97, of Spring Grove, passed away Monday, January 25, 2021 at Hanover Hall.  He was the loving husband of V. Louise (Lightner) Mummert with whom he shared 75 years of marriage until her passing on December 29, 2018.

He was born November 12, 1923 in Hanover, the son of the late Harry and Frances (Wallet) Mummert.

Mr. Mummert graduated from Hanover High School, Class of 1941 and after graduating was employed with R.H. Shepherd for eight years.  He began his career at Double Day, Hanover in 1949 and retired in 1985 after 36 years of service.  Mr. Mummert attended Gettysburg Baptist Church (GBC) and enjoyed traveling.

He is survived by his son, William G. Mummert and wife Chris, Spring Grove; four grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren and eight great great grandchildren.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Nancy Marchio; great grandson, Brandon Van Horn; sisters, Betty Moul, Doris Diehl and Joanne Welty and brothers, Harold, Philip and Edward Mummert.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 30, 2021 at 11 AM at Wetzel Funeral Home and Crematory, 549 Carlisle Street, Hanover with his son Rev. William G. Mummert officiating.  A time to share memories and an opportunity to view will be on Saturday from 10 AM until the start of the service at the funeral home.  Burial will be in St. Paul's Dubs Church Cemetery, Hanover.  Serving as pallbearers will be Ty Mummert, Bill Doron, Will Doron, Carrie Baez, Jenna Shearer and Anna Doron.

Due to COVID-19, we are asking all who attend the service to wear a mask and practice social distancing.  If you are unable to attend the service, you may watch the service at www.wetzelfuneralhome.com .  There will be a link at the top of Mr. Mummert's obituary.
