Rita Marie (Downs) Hill, 66, of New Oxford, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 17, 2024, at The Gardens at West Shore. She was the beloved wife of Stanley C. Hill, Sr., with whom she shared 47 wonderful years of marriage.

Born on February 9, 1958, in Upper Darby, Rita was the cherished daughter of the late Charles Downs and Evelyn (Sipps) James.

Rita was a dedicated member and former Madam President of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 1406. Her contributions to the club were numerous, and she took great pride in her role as Madam President. Rita's greatest joy in life was being surrounded by her family. She cherished her role as a homemaker, devoting herself to raising her children and spending time with her grandchildren.

In addition to her loving husband, Stanley, Rita is survived by her son, Stanley C. Hill, Jr. of New Oxford; her daughters, Corrinne Ahlers and her husband Jeremy of Hanover, and Tiffany McCachren of New Oxford. She was a proud grandmother to three grandchildren: Arieon "Snuffles" Moody, Stanley C. Hill, III, and Hunter McCachren. Rita also leaves behind her five sisters: Pat, Judy, Nancy, Madge, and Mary; her brother, Norman; as well as many loving nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

Rita was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Burwell.

A service to celebrate Rita's life will be held at 6 p.m. on Friday, June 21, 2024, at the Wetzel Funeral Home and Crematory, 549 Carlisle St., Hanover, PA. Family and friends are invited to share memories and pay their respects from 4 p.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Burial will be private.
