Obituary

Robert E. Gladfelter, 71, of New Oxford, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 26, 2022 at his home in New Oxford.

Born December 19, 1950 in Westminster, MD, he was the son of the late Samuel J. and Mary A. (Rineman) Gladfelter.

Bob was a maintenance man. He had a passion- both the heart and skill to do projects and could never wait to move on to the next one. Many in the family sought out and were rewarded with his skills. He knew his plumbing, electrical skills and his IT work but his real passion was woodworking.

Bobs favorite pastimes were playing games and watching TV- "Go Ravens!". He was a long-time employee of Aristocraft of Littlestown in the maintenance department for 15 years and then an SKF employee for 10 plus years in the maintenance department as well. Bob is an SKF retiree.

He was definitely a skilled worker with his hands. He remodeled three kitchens and three bathrooms. Bob could update anyone's entire home.

As I shared his passing with people he interacted with, they always mentioned he was a respectful, but quiet man. You will be missed. Bob will always be remembered as a quiet gentle man; my brother will now have no pain and in such a peaceful way he went home. What a God given blessing. Love from your five sisters.

Bob is survived by his five sisters, Shirley Utz of Hanover, Jean M. Warner of New Oxford, Linda Keener of Abbottstown, Brenda Sheaffer of Biglerville, Ellen Gladfelter and her wife Shari Brenizer of Mechanicsburg; seven nieces and nephews, Kimberly Sentz, Billy Bunch, Mark Bunch, Holly Wittington, Angela Conley, Tina Reed, Julie Sheaffer; 11 great nieces and great nephews and many loving extended family members and friends.

In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by two brothers-in-law, Earl Utz and Charlie Keener.

There will be no public viewing. A service to celebrate the life of Robert E. Gladfelter will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, December 2, 2022 at the Wetzel Funeral Home and Crematory, 549 Carlisle St., Hanover, PA with Pastor John Harling officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Westminster, MD. Pallbearers will be; Ellen Gladfelter, Shari Brenizer, Colton Sentz, Devin Gladfelter, Mike Conley, Charlie Conley, Matthew Sentz and Mark Bunch.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in loving memory of Mary, Samuel, and Robert to the Brethren Home Benevolent Fund 2990 Carlisle Pike, New Oxford, PA 17350
