Robert "Bob" C. Strangfeld, 73, of Hanover, PA, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, November 20, 2024. He was the devoted husband of Barbara L. (Blair) Strangfeld, with whom he shared 52 beautiful years of marriage.
Born on Tuesday, May 8, 1951, in Hackensack, NJ, Bob was a cherished son of the late William C. and Harriet M. (VanSetres) Strangfeld.
Bob's life was defined by love, devotion, and a deep commitment to his family and community. A proud graduate of Rutgers University, he earned his bachelor's degree in 1972 before embarking on a remarkable 47-year career with John Deere Construction Dealerships, retiring in 2019.
Bob's heart lay in the richness of history, particularly the Civil War era. He was a dedicated member of the Sons of Union Veterans Gettysburg Camp 112, the Dwight D. Eisenhower Society, the Adams County Historical Society, and Gettysburg Civil War Roundtable. His passion for the past was matched by his steadfast faith, reflected in his membership at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Hanover.
A loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother, Bob cherished every moment spent with his family. He is survived by his beloved wife, Barbara; his son, Eric Strangfeld, and wife Laura of Milford, NJ; and his two adored grandchildren, Ryan and Emma Strangfeld. He is also survived by his brothers, Thomas Strangfeld and wife Marian, and William Strangfeld, as well as several nieces, nephews, and extended family members who will dearly miss his kindness and warmth.
Following Bob's wishes, there will be no public viewing. A memorial service will be held at 11 am on Thursday, December 5, 2024 at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 30 W. Chestnut St. Hanover, with the Rev. Dr. Kathy Vitalis Hoffman and the Rev. Faye C. Snyder officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 30 W. Chestnut St., Hanover, PA 17331, to honor Bob's legacy of faith and service.
