Rosalie A.
Simmons
Aug 1, 1951 — Aug 13, 2025
Rosalie A. Simmons, 74, of Gettysburg, formerly of Hanover and Mechanicsburg, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, at Genesis Healthcare Gettysburg Center, surrounded by love.
Born on August 1, 1951, in Mechanicsburg, Rosalie was the daughter of the late Kenneth Eugene Simmons, Sr., and Dorothy (Harbold) Musselman. She grew up in Mechanicsburg, where her roots and family bonds first took shape, before settling in Hanover to raise her own family.
Rosalie was no stranger to hard work. Over the years, she held many jobs — from her time at Dal-Tile in Gettysburg to the long days working in the orchards of York Springs and Biglerville. But beyond the labor, what defined her most was the care and devotion she poured into her family.
She loved nothing more than being surrounded by the people she loved — especially her son, her grandson, her brothers, and all their children. Family barbecues were her happy place. Whether it was casting a fishing line into the water, enjoying a swim on a hot summer day, or laughing together over grilled burgers and picnic tables, Rosalie found joy in the simple, shared moments that became treasured memories.
Her generous spirit and friendly nature extended beyond her family as well. As a longtime member of the AMVETS and the Hanover Moose, Rosalie formed lasting friendships and was known for her easy smile and kind heart.
Rosalie will be deeply missed by her son, Ed Valentin, Jr., and his wife, Kristin, of Georgetown, SC; her cherished grandson, Christopher Valentin of Georgetown, SC; her brothers: Kenneth Simmons, II of Hanover, Roger Simmons and his wife, Kathy, of New Oxford, Brian Jones of Littlestown, George Musselman, III and his wife, Kerri, of Dover, and Michael Musselman of New Oxford; as well as many loving nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, David Jones.
A service to celebrate Rosalie's life will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, at Wetzel Funeral Home and Crematory, 549 Carlisle Street, Hanover, PA, with Rev. E. Robert Burkhart officiating. Family and friends are invited to share memories during a viewing at the funeral home from 12 p.m. until the time of service. Following cremation, a private burial will be held at Trindle Spring Cemetery, Mechanicsburg.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Rosalie's memory may be made to The Friends of Codorus State Park (FOCSP), 1066 Blooming Grove Road, Hanover, PA 17331.
