Obituary

Russell A. Steich, 68 of McSherrystown passed away peacefully at WellSpan York Hospital on Sunday, January 30, 2022. He was the beloved husband of Sharon A. (Lippy) Steich with whom he shared 28 wonderful years of marriage.

Born March 15, 1953 in Hanover, he was a son of Paul E. and Doris L. (Rebert) Steich.

Russell was a graduate of Hanover High School where he was a band member.  He spent his career working at R.H. Sheppard, Harley Davidson and retired from Elsner's Engineering as a CNC Computer Programmer.  He was also a Life Member of McSherrystown Home.  In his spare time, he enjoyed puzzles, bike riding and watching TV.

Russell's family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the Apple Hill Cancer Center in York and to WellSpan York Hospital for the exceptional care they provided.

In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Steich is survived by 2 children: Allen R. Steich and his wife , Jennifer of Myrtle Beach, SC, Evonne M. (Steich) Booth of Red Lion, PA; 2 grandchildren: Madison (Aden) Hintz and her husband, Dakota of Burkburnette, TX and Hailey E. Steich of Myrtle Beach, SC; 1 great-granddaughter, Alice Aden; 3 siblings: Linda A. (Steich) Danner and her husband, Terry of Hanover, Jack E. Steich and his wife, Peg of Hagerstown, MD and Jill M. (Steich) Hempfing and her husband, Jim  of Hanover, as well as many loving nieces, nephews, great nieces & nephews and other loving family members.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Charles E. Steich as well as his grandparents, Allen & Esta (Sholl) Steich and George & Mary (Baumgardner) Rebert.

There will be no memorial service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Apple Hill Cancer Center; 25 Monument Rd.; York, PA 17403 or to WellSpan York Hospital; 1001 S. George St.; York, PA 17403.

Arrangements are under the direction of Wetzel Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc. in Hanover.
