Samuel C. Giarrusso, aka "Chip", 82, of Hanover, passed away peacefully in his home on Wednesday, July 14, 2022. He was the loving husband of Ann Marie (Perry) Giarrusso; together they celebrated their 50 th wedding anniversary on June 10 th .
Born July 15, 1939 in Paterson, New Jersey. He was the son of the late Albert and Rose (Torchia) Giarrusso.
Mr. Giarrusso was a loving husband, father, and grandfather; he loved his family and cherished spending time with them. Chip was a truck driver for advance trucking in Paterson NJ for many years and supervisor of Colorama of Passaic NJ. Sam loved sports. He played softball and also umpired for many years. He enjoyed horse racing, and going to the track. Mr. Giarrusso was a diehard Yankees fan, New York Rangers fan, New York Giants fan and Knicks fan. He enjoyed watching all of them on tv and listening to sports on the radio. Sam also loved to bowl; his two places were Parkway Lanes and Holiday Bowl in NJ.
In addition to his wife, Sam is survived by a daughter, Michele Giarrusso of Hanover, and a son, Sam C. Giarrusso, Jr. also of Hanover, as well as three grandchildren, Sam C. Giarrusso III, Derek G. Giarrusso, and Amber N. Giarrusso. He is also survived by a sister- in- law, Lia Giarrusso and many other loving family members and friends.
In addition to his parents, Sam was preceded in death by his two brothers, Thomas Giarrusso and Louis Giarrusso, and a sister- in- law, Bertha Giarrusso.
A service to celebrate the life of Mr. Giarrusso will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, July 21, 2022 at the Wetzel Funeral Home and Crematory, 549 Carlisle St., Hanover, PA with Rev. Michael P. Reid, II officiating. A time to share memories with the family and an opportunity to view will be on Thursday from 10:00 am until the time of service at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church Cemetery, in Hanover.
