Obituary

Sharon Ann Robertson, 78, of Hanover, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 18, 2024, at UPMC Pinnacle Hanover. Born on June 29, 1946, in Frostburg, MD, she was the beloved daughter of the late William Paul, Sr., and Lucille Leola (Largent) Robertson.

Sharon was a dedicated and accomplished property manager, specializing in the development and establishment of residential housing. Her professional journey was marked by her unwavering commitment to excellence and her ability to bring communities to life.

Outside of her career, Sharon was an avid genealogist. She spent countless hours delving into her family's history, unearthing stories, and connecting with new relatives around the world. Her passion for genealogy not only enriched her understanding of her heritage but also brought joy and new relationships into her life.

Sharon's greatest joy, however, was her family. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who cherished every moment spent with her loved ones. She found immense happiness in her role as a grandmother, creating lasting memories with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her love and dedication to her family were evident in everything she did. Additionally, Sharon treasured the time spent with her friends, nurturing those relationships throughout her life.

Sharon is survived by her children, her son, Lonnie Childers, II, and his wife Michele, and her daughter, Veronica Gallagher; and grandchildren, Stephanie Barksdale and Clarence Gallagher II; step-granddaughter, Kuressa Laughman, and her fiancé Andrew Chilcoat; great-grandchildren, Asher Barksdale and Benjamin Barksdale; and her brother, William Paul Robertson Jr. She also leaves behind many loving extended family members and friends who will miss her dearly.

A service to celebrate Sharon's life will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 23, 2024, at the Wetzel Funeral Home and Crematory, 549 Carlisle St., Hanover, PA, with Rev. E. Robert Burkhart officiating. Family and friends are invited to share memories and pay their respects from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Hanover.
