Shirley L. (Lookenbill) Rider, 76, of Hanover, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 10, 2022 at her home. She was the loving wife of the late Edward W. Rider who passed away in 2015; together they shared 37 years of marriage.

Born June 15, 1945 in Hanover, she was a daughter of the late Lewis C. and Grace R. (Feeser) Lookenbill.

Shirley was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother; she cherished her family and loved spending time with them. Shirley was a library aid at New Oxford Highschool for 26 years, retiring in 2010. She loved to read, go swimming, and was a faithful member of Gates of Praise Worship Center in Littlestown.

Mrs. Rider is survived by her sons, Scott Furlow and his wife Jeri-Anne, Michael Furlow and his wife Kristen; stepdaughter, Cheryl Palko; grandchildren, Megan Jensen, Dillon and Jacob Furlow; step grandchildren, Edward and Brent Rider, Courtney Musser, Corey Wheland, Cheyenne Hughes, and Dalton Hughes; great granddaughter, Valerie Furlow, step great grandchildren, Greyson Wheland, Angelina and Alina; daughter in-law Tammy Turner; brother, Wayne L. Lookenbill and his wife Frannie; two sisters in-law Lurethria Robinson, Louise Lookenbill and many other loving extended family members and friends.

In addition to her parents and husband, Shirley was preceded in death by two sisters, Karen Lookenbill Barbara A.G. Smith; a brother, Edward D. Lookenbill and two step sons, Leroy and John Rider.

There will be no public viewing. Following cremation, a graveside service to celebrate the life of Shirley will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, February 16, 2022 at Marburg Memorial Gardens, 2510 Grandview Rd., Hanover, PA with Pastor Garry Sheaffer officiating.
