Shirley N.
Zartman
Dec 27, 1937 — Jun 14, 2025
Shirley N. "Mamaw" (Bossom) Zartman, 87, of Dover, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, June 14, 2025. She was the loving wife of the late Edward N. Zartman. Together they shared 46 years of marriage before his passing in 2002.
Born on December 27, 1937, in Hanover, Pennsylvania, Shirley was the daughter of the late Clarence E. Bossom, Sr. and Vesta Viola (Louey) Bossom. She was raised in the Hanover area and attended school there.
Shirley was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She worked for 30 years at Harley-Davidson in York, retiring in 2002. A very loving and selfless person, Shirley gave to others without hesitation and was always there with a helping hand or a kind word. She cherished her family above all and was affectionately known as "Mamaw" by those closest to her.
She enjoyed life's simple pleasures, especially playing bingo, trying her luck at "13 Jars" at local carnivals, and sitting down to play cards of all kinds with friends and family. She was also a huge fan of the Baltimore Orioles and rarely missed a game, always cheering on her team with enthusiasm.
She is survived by two daughters, Beverly Reinhart and her husband Donald of East Berlin, and Tammy L. Myers and her husband Raymond of Hanover; one sister, Patricia Smith of Hanover; four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and eight great-great-grandchildren. She is also remembered fondly by many extended family members and dear friends.
In addition to her parents and husband, Shirley was preceded in death by her brothers, Clarence, Ralph, Maurice, and Donald Bossom; and her sister, Nancy Garcia.
A service to celebrate Shirley's life will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 21, 2025, at the Wetzel Funeral Home and Crematory, 549 Carlisle Street, Hanover, PA. A time to share memories with the family and a viewing will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Following cremation, burial of the urn will be private at Marburg Memorial Gardens in Hanover.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Shirley's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
