Susan "Sue" J. Dunnett, 75, of Hanover, passed away Tuesday, August 10, 2021 at UPMC Harrisburg. She was the wife of William Johnson Dunnett who died November 17, 2010.
She was born April 22, 1946 in Baltimore, the daughter of the late Richard Ellsworth and Dorothy Mae (Short) Reese.
Sue graduated from Dulaney High School, Timonium and was employed with AAI, Hunt Valley. She was a member of Manchester Baptist Church, Manchester, MD, was a big fan of QVC and was co-godparent to her nieces. Sue received a double lung transplant August 2, 2011 at the University of Maryland Medical Center becoming the first patient in the U.S. to undergo a lung transplant using donor lungs repaired during the ex vivo lung perfusion (EVLP) process.
Sue is survived by her sister, Barbara Toher and husband John of Reisterstown; step-children, William "John" Dunnett and wife Christine, Churchville, MD, Christopher Dunnett and wife Lisa, Florida and Wendy Holden and husband Paul, Kailua-Kona, HI; step-grandchildren, Rhea, Jesseca, Olivia and Miranda; nieces, Ashley Bernstein and husband Aaron and their children Everett, Ellery and Emersyn, Fayetteville, AR and Shannon Trangle and husband Jeran and their children Jaspen and Juniper, Portland, OR; sister-in-law, Laura Phelps and husband Herb, Hanover and her loving dog Zoey.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother Richard Paul Reese.
A service to celebrate the life of Susan "Sue" J. Dunnett will be held Tuesday, August 17, 2021 at 2PM at the Wetzel Funeral Home and Crematory, 549 Carlisle Street, Hanover with Rev. Dr. David Scafide officiating. The family will receive friends and share memories on Tuesday from 1 PM until the start of the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery, Hanover.
