Obituary

Susan M. (Bennett) Myers, aged 63, of Abbottstown, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, May 12, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. Born on May 9, 1961, in Hanover, she was the cherished daughter of Mary (Hemler) Crushong of Hanover and the late Frederick Bennett.

Susan was the beloved wife of David R. Myers. The couple was just short of celebrating their 27th wedding anniversary on August 28th and shared a total of 39 years together. A devoted mother, granny, and friend, Susan's life was a testament to her kind-hearted, friendly nature, and her willingness to help those in need.

For over 40 years, Susan was a dedicated employee at PCA, formerly Tim-Bar, in New Oxford, all while raising her children with love and care. She had a passion for reading, puzzles, and gardening, with a special touch for nurturing her plants. Susan's home was filled with collections ranging from planters and home interior statues to Boyd's Bears. She found joy in watching birds and squirrels, and her love for animals extended to adopting greyhounds retired from racing.

Susan loved visiting miniature horse farms and took her children to amusement parks when they were younger. She was an avid fan of public auctions and antiquing.

She leaves behind her husband, David R. Myers; daughters, Rachel Barnhart and her husband Travis of York and Michelle Bankert of Hanover; stepson, Scott Laughman and his wife Holly of York County; her sister, Cathy Baughman of Hanover; four grandchildren, Owen and Griffin Barnhart, Leland Ritterman, and Phoenix Willis; two step-grandchildren, Emerson and Kayla Laughman; along with many loving extended family members and friends.

In addition to her father, Susan was preceded in death by her brother, David Bennett.
