Suzanne "Suzie" V. Kurtz, 75, of Glenville, PA, was called home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Sunday, September 4, 2022, at UPMC Harrisburg, PA. She was the loving wife of David L. Kurtz, Sr., Glenville, PA. They had 54 years of marriage.

Born October 25, 1946, in Hanover, PA, she was the daughter of the late George R., Sr. and Edith (Noel) McDermitt. Her family was vital to her. Suzie lived for her three children and her 8 grandchildren. She attended many events to encourage and support her children and grandchildren. She was a positive force in her family's lives.

Suzie graduated in 1964 from Eichelberger High School, Hanover, PA. Beginning in the late 1970s, she started baking and decorating cakes and pastries. Many in the Hanover area and beyond enjoyed her aptitude for baking and decorating. Suzanne made cakes for all occasions from birthdays to beautiful wedding cakes. In 1999, she graduated with an associate's Degree in Professional Culinary Arts from the Baltimore International College and later served an internship as a pastry chef in Ireland.

Jesus Christ was the center of Suzie's life. She was the spiritual leader of her family. Matthew 5:14 described her well: "You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden." She was a prayer warrior and helped her family to understand praying. She was very active in the life of the church. She held many offices in the church, teaching Sunday school, council member, archivist, and anything that needed to be done. She was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Hanover, PA.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, David L. Kurtz, Jr. and wife Brandi, Hanover, PA; Sandra Bowman and husband Scott, Hanover, PA and Daniel Kurtz and wife Pamela, York, PA. Grandchildren: Scott, Jr., Ryan, Aaron, Daniel, Jr., Kyle, Connor, Cole, and Esther.

Suzie is survived by her sisters, Edith of Hanover, PA, and Carol and husband Blaise, Hanover, PA; brother, George and wife Joyce, Hanover, PA.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Joan Miller, and a niece, Lacee Miller.

A funeral service will be held Monday, September 12, 2022, at 11 AM at Wetzel Funeral Home and Crematory, 549 Carlisle St., Hanover, PA with Rev. Faye C. Snyder officiating. A time to share memories and an opportunity to view will be on Sunday, September 11th from 6 to 8 PM, and on Monday, September 12th from 10 AM until the start of the service, both at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Paul's Dubs Cemetery, Hanover, PA. Serving as pallbearers will be all her grandsons.
