Terry L.
Smith
Dec 5, 1948 — Dec 3, 2024
Terry L. "Smitty" Smith, 75, of Arcadia, FL, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, in Baldwin, FL, just two days shy of his 76th birthday. He was the devoted husband of Janet M. (Wonder) Smith, with whom he shared an extraordinary 56 years of marriage filled with love and cherished memories.
Born on December 5, 1948, in Littlestown, PA, Terry was the beloved son of the late Francis J. Smith and the late Helen (Frownfelter) Tracey.
Terry dedicated over 30 years of his life working at Harley-Davidson, retiring in 2004. Known for his hard work and strong character, he left an enduring impression on his colleagues and friends. Outside of work, Terry embraced life with a passion. An avid drag racing enthusiast, he earned the nickname "The Yellow Bandit," becoming a familiar and beloved figure on the tracks. Whether mowing his lawn, traveling to NHRA Drag Races, or visiting family, Terry found joy in the simple pleasures of life.
He was known for his warm hugs, often described as the best "squeeze" by those lucky enough to receive them. He cherished time spent with his family and friends, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and unforgettable moments.
Terry's life was enriched by his loving family. He is survived by his wife, Janet, his daughter, Candy Fuhrman, and her husband, Jeffrey, of Sarasota, FL, and his son, Brian Smith, and his wife, Sandra, of Chandler, AZ. He was the proud grandfather of Ashley Fuhrman, Carley Rauch, Mykele Smith, and Brianna Grams, and the doting great-grandfather to Chase Bond, Brayden Carver, Waverly Carver, Braxton Rauch, Astoria Grams, and Oakley Smith.
Terry also leaves behind his siblings: Rose Wonder (Donald) of Littlestown, Janet Joy of Taneytown, MD, Judy Diel of Littlestown, Michael Smith of Littlestown, John Smith of Littlestown, Ronald Smith (Becky) of East Berlin, and Fern Rodkey of Taneytown, MD. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Shirley Wonder.
