Obituary

Velma Street Beil, of Hanover, PA died Tuesday, June 7, 2022, at Homewood at Plum Creek, Hanover, PA.  She was married to Donald Beil for 42 years.

Born December 11, 1929, in Buladean, NC, she was the youngest of 12 children of Alaska and Minnie Hill Street. With Velma's passing, all are deceased.

She was a wife, mother, homemaker and professional as an Executive Secretary at Black & Decker, Townson, MD.  Velma served as President of Professional Secretaries' Association and Regent of the Colonel Richard McAlister Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law and daughter and son-in-law, Thomas and Ceslie Beil and Debra Leonard and Greg Merhar; her grandchildren and great grandchildren: Keely Metzger and husband Jeremy and three great grandchildren Drew, Adelyn and Tyler of Murfreesboro, TN; Thomas Beil and wife Amy, and two great grandchildren Easton and Gracelyn of Cleveland, TN; Geoffrey Leonard of Brooklyn, NY; Alexander Leonard and wife Sophia Zhu of New York, NY; and Olivia Oldridge and husband Derek and great grandson Parker of Philadelphia, PA.

A Memorial Service will be held Monday at 10:30 a.m. on June 13, 2022 at the Homewood Chapel, 425 Westminster Avenue, Hanover, PA with Rev. Dr. Joel Hummel officiating. Family greeting begins at 10:00 a.m. Velma's ashes will be scattered on the Roane Mountain near Buladean, NC.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Homewood at Plum Creek Benevolent Fund, 425 Westminster Avenue, Hanover, PA 17331.
