Wilford H.
Myers, Jr.
Apr 16, 1950 — May 30, 2025
Wilford H. "Wolfie" Myers, Jr., 75, of Hanover, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, May 30, 2025, in accordance with his wish to spend his final moments at home. He was the devoted husband of Mary N. (Thoman) Myers; together they shared 52 wonderful years of marriage and would have celebrated their 53rd wedding anniversary on July 1st of this year.
Born on April 16, 1950, in Gettysburg, he was a son of the late Wilford H. Myers, Sr. and Margaret I. (Bowling) Myers. Wolfie grew up in New Oxford and graduated from New Oxford High School, Class of 1970. In 1972, he married his beloved wife and built a life centered around family and hard work.
Wolfie retired at the age of 55 from Vulcan, where he worked as a Millwright. A true jack of all trades, he could tackle anything—woodworking, custom cabinetry, remodeling, and more. He was a proud member of the NRA and enjoyed target shooting at the range, often reloading his own custom rounds. He was also a member of the New Oxford Social Club, the York County Corvette Club, and the McSherrystown Fish and Game Club. Wolfie had a deep love for Labrador Retrievers, raising and breeding them with care.
Above all, Wolfie cherished his family. He was a devoted husband, loving father, and amazing grandfather. Spending time with his loved ones was his greatest joy.
In addition to his wife, Wolfie is survived by his children: Jason A. Myers and his wife Zoë of Hanover, and Stacey L. Myers-Fisher and her husband Steven of Hanover; grandchildren: Bryceton A. Fisher, Jocelyn M. Fisher, Landon J. Fisher, Kamren G. Myers, Aden M. Myers, Emma R. Wantz, and Evan J. Wantz. He is also survived by his sisters: Brenda A. Scott and her companion Jay Megonnell, Laura M. Nimtz and her husband Bill, and Margaret G. "Peggy" McCormack; his sister-in-law Deborah L. Myers; as well as many loving extended family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Daniel H. Myers, who passed away on the same date five years ago.
In accordance with Wolfie's wishes, there will be no public viewing or services. Following cremation, the family will celebrate his life with a memorial picnic to be announced at a later date. Please contact Wetzel Funeral Home & Crematory or visit www.wetzelfuneralhome.com for updates.
