Obituary

William F. "Bill" Clarke, 90 of New Oxford passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 15, 2020 at the Brethren Home.  He was the beloved husband, for 62 years, of the late Beryl M. (Berwager) Clarke who passed away on August 21, 2019.

Born September 28, 1930 in Baltimore, MD, he was a son of the late Wilbur F. and Catherine E. (Whiteley) Clarke.

Bill was a member of Calvary Bible Church, Hanover.  He served his country proudly in the U.S. Army during the Korean War earning the Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal and the Army Occupation Medal (Germany).   Mr. Clarke was a mechanical engineer and was employed for 40 years with Westinghouse in Baltimore MD, retiring in 1993. Some of the projects he worked on included; developing a camera lens for the first camera to take pictures on the moon and working on night vision technology. Bill was a remarkable caring, religious man.  He always was happiest when he was helping others.  Bill was loved by many and will be missed so much. "For God so loved the world, that He gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him, should not perish but have everlasting life" John 3:16.

Bill is survived by three children;  Michael L. Clarke, William F. Clarke and his wife Peggy and Catherine M. Zimmerman and her husband Brian;  two grandsons,  Brandon Forrest Clarke and Michael L. Clarke, Jr.; two step grandchildren, Kimberly Delahanty and Rebecca Crouch; two step great-grandchildren, Jacob and Katelyn Delahanty; his niece, Barbara O'Donnell and her husband Timothy and their children, Jeffery, Timothy and Elizabeth.  He was preceded in death by his brother, Charles G. Clarke.

Due to the Covid-19 Pandemic, a memorial service to celebrate the life of Bill Clarke will be held at a later date.  Burial will be in Garrison Forest Veterans Cemetery, Owings Mills, MD.
