Obituary

William E. Hyde, 95 of Hanover passed away peacefully at Seaton Springwood on Saturday, March 21, 2026.  He was the beloved husband of the late Betty S. (Gladfelter) Hyde who passed on March 11, 2015.

Born July 9, 1930 in Williamsport, MD, he was a son of the late Olive Hess.

Mr. Hyde proudly served our country in the United States Air Force as an aircraft mechanic during the Korean War, and his patriotism continued as a lifelong member of the V.F.W.  He also became a member of the Hanover Home Association, as well as the McSherrystown Moose Lodge.  A diligent professional, he spent a long career as a print shop manager for Hanover Direct.  In his free time, he especially cherished time spent pursuing his passion for photography.  Additionally, he enjoyed reading and bicycling, having completed numerous 100 mile "century rides".  He was also an avid animal lover.

William is survived by his daughter-in-law, Rita Hyde (wife of William's late son, David) of Hanover; his granddaughter, Christine Harlacher and husband Shane of Spring Grove; two grandsons: Blake Harlacher and Graham Harlacher.

In addition to his wife and mother, he was preceded in death by his son, David and three siblings: Larry, Joe and Fannie.
